Vintage Tablecloth to Awesome Apron

I am all about reusing old things to make new things.    Call it my little movement towards earth friendliness.  Or maybe, I just like the challenge.

Take this tablecloth, for example.  It came from a friend's grandma's house that is currently being organized and cleaned out.

Isn't it pretty?  It is nice heavy cotton, and I love the two tone blue look.  However, if you can't tell, there are quite a few stains right in the middle, making it difficult to actually use it as a table cloth.
Cue creative challenge: Turn said table cloth into not one, but two aprons, successfully hiding the stains and not using any additional fabric.

After some planning and re-planning, I started cutting and laying out the pieces to see if there would be enough.

Here is one apron laid out:
And the second:
This one had some major stains covered up by the extra dark blue band added to the middle.
I used the small chunks left, most of which where stained, to make the straps and ties.
This was the most time consuming part, because I had to piece and turn all of the long ties and straps.  My right index finger took quite a beating and I broke a seam ripper.  (oops)
This is all of the tablecloth that was wasted:
And here is one finished apron:

And the other:

A success I think!  I look forward to finding more upcycled vintage treasures locked in stained tablecloths in the future! :)
