Happy The Home- The Importance of Parent Involvement in Religious Ed

I ran across these lines from a hymn earlier in the summer:

"Happy the home where Jesus' name
is sweet to every ear.
Where children early speak His fame
and parents hold him dear."

It turned into a doodled coloring page...

...which became a piece of art for a friends new home...
...and will now be the theme of a blog series on encouraging parent involvement in religious education.  The Catechism of the Catholic Church is very clear on the role of parents in forming their children:
CCC 2223   "Parents have the first responsibility for the education of their children. They bear witness to this responsibility first by creating a home where tenderness, forgiveness, respect, fidelity, and disinterested service are the rule."

In this series that I am calling "Happy the Home," I hope to inspire DREs, catechists, youth ministers, and teachers to find new ways to help support moms and dads as they work to raise Godly children strong in the faith.  Check back!
