Gift Guide

2020 Gift Guide

I know many of us are trying to get our Christmas Shopping done early this year, so I wanted to share a few recommendations with you, including what I am buying/giving this Christmas season. I'm doing my best to shop small, local, and/or Catholic as often as possible. Many of those shops are running awesome sales and/or are offering you a discount code, so I hope you go check them out!

A few notes:

  • For some of the shops, I am just linking to them and not sharing specific photos, etc. not because I don't like them as much, but because I know that some friends and family members might read this and I don't want them guessing who gets what!
  • Some of these items were gifted to me to review, but honestly for many of them I've already bought duplicates as gifts because I like them so much. I only share things with you that I have tried and love and think you might like too!
  • I am sharing some discount codes, but NONE of these are affiliate links. Just recommendations to support small business that I believe in!
Ok, first up, here are some shops that I have purchased things from recently, (some of which I've been buying from for years!) and the type of items they sell. Again, I'm not posting specific pictures here only because I don't want any of my loved ones snooping! ;) Please still go check out their shops!
I had the honor of working with Anne to design her 2020 Christmas ornament! I'm amazed at how she turned my drawing of the Holy Family into such a lovely clay creation! Clarey Clayworks has the most beautiful baptismal bowls and other sacrament keepsakes. Her shop is all 20% off right now, no code needed!

Shining Light Dolls is an old favorite- I've recommended their Saint Stories for Kids podcast and free coloring pages many times, and have gifted their vinyl Saint dolls to lots of littles. I love their new plush doll collection like St. Joseph here as well as this sturdy floor puzzle with so many creative details about the Saints.

Catholic Paper Goods could be your one stop shop for gifts! Offering printable Christmas cards, Saint coloring pagespins, tshirts, keychains, and so.many.saint.stickers, Shari's original art presents the symbols of our faith in a way that is meant to be shared. I'm also a big fan of her Saint trading cards, which you can use as decor, flash cards, a matching game, and more. Shari was a Why Make Beautiful Things contributor, and one of these days I hope to meet her in person! Shop small sale: 10%-25% off select items November 27-30 (no code required) and Christmas cards are 15% through 12/1 (except for custom photo cards)!

Just Love Prints is another favorite shop of mine, and another creative that I hope to get to meet in person someday! Lindsay and I have collaborated on a few projects and I love her focus on creating things that make it easy to share our faith with others through encouragement and prayer. The Holy Family collection (pictured below) is gorgeous, and I love her pep talk prints and stickers for sending in happy mail. Lindsay wrote this guest post for the Why Make Beautiful series a few years ago. Lindsay is offering you 15% off with the code KATIE15.

Little Drops of Water makes the cutest Saint figurines and they have a huge collection to pick from. They recently redesigned and the statues are a little bigger in size (about 3.5") and I love all the little details. They also have a great collection of Saint magnets which would make awesome stocking stuffers! FYI, the statues are not toys- they are sturdy and heavy, but can break if dropped. They are perfect for a shelf or home altar, though!

Artza Box- The Holy Land Delivered
When I opened the box that Artza sent I kept saying "wow, wow, wow!" Unlike other curated subscription boxes Artza is working directly with artisans and small businesses in the Holy Land, offering a collection of items that can't be found anywhere else. There was an impressive variety of items included, and I really liked how almost all of them were more "experiences" rather than "stuff." There were a few lovely keepsakes, but also included were food items, candy, postcards, a game, and a candle- all things to enjoy but that don't add more knick-knacks to your home. I'll admit, the price point is a little high on this box, but once I saw the items it is clear that it is actually a generous value. I think that one of their boxes would make a perfect gift for an important person who might be hard to buy for, like a parent or your priest. I also love that they include information about all of the people and small businesses that they are supporting. And they are offering you a 15% discount with code RADIANT15

Bible Games Central offers tons of free games and activity ideas, but recently started offering these high quality board games and cards. They are really well made- sturdy boxes, thick cards, and durable instructions. I really like the bold graphics of the Bible Bingo and Memory games. The Parable Card game is the one I am the most excited to add to my classroom- the rummy style competition results in collecting pieces of the stories of the Parables, so hopefully kids are learning as they play! The Christmas Bingo & Matching game could easily be played by kids on their own and everything is included- just open the box and play. And I loved the concept behind the Bible Memory and Bingo sets- these games were designed to increase familiarity with the order, content, and genres of the Books of the Bible. I've never seen anything like it! (FYI- I didn't realize until I had the game all laid out that they don't include the Deuterocanonical Books. It certainly doesn't decrease the quality of the game, but it might make it less catechetical or even confusing for Catholic kids.)

Happy Nest Home Goods creates lots of lovely things, but an exciting addition to her shop are these ready-to-go embroidery kids. Everything is included from the detailed instructions to the floss and needle. The fabric was even preprinted with the pattern in matching colors! I think she is almost sold out of these, but she has many other patterns available if you want to do a little stitching this winter!

Open Journey Bible Journaling Kits have brought me so much creative joy and prayer this year. Ingrid asked my to be on her creative team earlier in 2020, and I continue to be impressed with the quality, thought, and beauty packed into her kids. Surrounding a central theme, the kits include a multi page devotional, stickers, cardstock die cuts, stamps, paper, journaling cards, and more, all created with Ingrid's original artwork. (She also offers digital sets if that works better for you!) I gave a more detailed review of the Road to Emmaus Kit in this blog post, and below are a few pictures of things I made from the Psalms Kit, Word Focus Cards, and Wait for the Lord Advent Kit. If you or someone you know is interested in Bible Journaling (which can also be done in a journal or a planner, not just a journaling Bible, fyi) I would definitely check out Open Journey! (Looks like her shop is 20% off right now!)

Speaking of Bible Journaling, I've used a couple of Brightly Hude new clip art sets to create some lovely entries in my Bible, as well as cards to mail and added elements to jazz up my Google Slides for school. She keeps adding more and more collections and there are an endless ways to use them. I also love Adalee's stickers  and cards am excited for her new book to come out!

Curated Catholic is creating these beautiful Lectionary Prints featuring the Gospel readings, a memory verse, and a piece of Sacred Art. These would be perfect for a classroom bulletin board, hung with your calendar at home, or next to the kitchen table. I like that they have a classic/simple design that allows them to look timeless as they encourage us to dwell in the Scriptures each day. Get 10% off with code KATIE10

Immaculata Kids is a new project from a recent college grad. Sharing original stories about Mary, this monthly subscription sends real mail right to a kiddo's mail box and is supplemented by additional resources and project ideas. Everyone loves getting real mail, and I think this is a creative way to share truths about our faith in a narrative format. Letters so far have included topics like the Nativity of Mary, the Rosary, and Marian Apparitions. She's offering these deals until 11-30-20

But there are lots of digital items are ready for you including printables of all the Names of Mary, watercolor versions of the Mysteries of the Rosary, and Bible margin doodles, and until Christmas they are all 50% off, no code needed!
