Have your kids/students ever had questions about how (and why!) the Catholic Church canonizes Saints? I know that the process has been the topic of many discussions for me over the past few weeks, especially as the Beatification of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen quickly approaches.
I've been teaching a kid-friendly version of the Canonization Process to my 5th-8th grade students for years, but just gave our "notes" a nice upgrade so they could be shared with you too!
Be warned, you likely will end up with lots of questions if you walk through this lesson! If you want to read up on the Vatican's laws straight from the source, go here. For your students, I highly recommend watching either this video or this video (or both!).
If you'd like to have something to use as a visual to walk through the process, you'll find a copy of the notes I just used in my own classroom below:
If you want to share more about the Canonization Process through the lens of the Cause of Fulton Sheen, you'll find so much more in the Teaching with Fulton Sheen Curriculum!
