The Liturgical Year Coloring Book

Can you believe that it is almost the end of the Liturgical Year?  (Gasp!) Only three Sundays left until the start of Advent.  This is the perfect time of year to review the structure and rhythm of the Liturgical Calendar and the beauty of each individual season.  Last year, I made some coloring pages called "What is Advent?" etc. with some of the signs and symbols of each season to start discussions with my students.  This year I'm a bit more organized and have them all combined into one coloring book with a calendar on the cover.  We'll use this to talk about the Seasons now and throughout the rest of the school year.  Click on either picture to download and print the coloring book for yourself.

Here are what the pages inside look like:

Hope you savor the remaining weeks of this Liturgical Year, and the Year of Mercy!

  1. THANK YOU! I used the individual pages that you shared last year with my sixth graders. They were such a great visual reminder for my students. During each season when we would be at Mass or a prayer service, or simply walking our hallways when my students would see one of the symbols that were featured on your page, they would get that "look" of awareness, catch my eye and smile! I am so happy to have the sheets all in one file. I printed them two to a page to form a booklet for our interactive Religion notebooks. I made the booklets during my planning period just now. We will begin to use them next week. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

    1. Yay! I'm so glad that they were helpful, Angela! I also love to have things all in one spot, hence the organizing into a coloring book. :) And wow! Already printed and ready that early in the morning- you are way ahead of me! :)

  2. Oh this is lovely! I will print these for my kiddos in Sunday school, and we will work on each page gradually during the season, with a beautiful book to send home at the end of the year!

    1. That's how I'm hoping to use it too, Laurel! All in one place means it might not get lost as easily, I hope! :)

  6. This is wonderful - thank you! Just a quick note, though - the Saints on the Ordinary Time page still have St Teresa of Calcutta labeled as Blessed Teresa. :) Thank you so much for sharing your talent and all of these wonderful resources - they are fantastic! I am so grateful. :)

    1. Oh, man... I forgot to update that! It's a good thing that so little changes in the Catholic Church, because I could never keep up! :) I'll add that editing to my to do list. Thanks!

  8. This is excellent. Thanks for making it costless!

For us in our church though, we've been striving to make Pentecost on par with Christmas & Easter, especially for the kids. As a day that marks the mission of the Church, we believe it to be so important. Just a thought!

    Thanks again.

    1. Hi Jeremy! Thanks, and you're welcome- I know as an educator of any kind, money is tight.
Thanks for the idea about Pentecost- I agree that it is a super big deal worthy of extra teaching and activities. However Pentecost isn't its own liturgical season the way Christmas and Easter are. Each of the pages in this coloring book are for an entire season, hence why Pentecost is included on the Easter Season page. Hope that clarifies! :)

  9. This is just perfect! I teach CCD to 2nd graders and this will so come in handy when discussing the liturgical year . . . and on a level where they can understand it, too. The images on each page will truly be remembered by the children. Thank you for your creativity. - Laura G.

  11. I love this soooo much. I will use it with my 2nd grade parish religious education kids. We only get the sacrament textbooks (Reconciliation and Eucharist) and not a grade level text. This is a super visual for helping me teach the seasons and feasts of the Church year.

  14. I wish that you would expand your coloring book for the liturgical year. I'd love a great page for the feast of Christ the King!! I like to highlight special days that the church celebrates by putting pages into my 5th graders religion notebooks. It makes them aware of how much the church celebrates and is part of our everyday lives.

    1. Yes! If you click on the Sacraments tab above, then scroll down to the Eucharist heading, there are several Mass resources including the parts and structure of the Mass. :)

  19. Thank you so very much for sharing your beautiful artwork. I am using the pages in my Living the Liturgical Year Binder. It has been my mission to learn (I'm a convert) and teach my family. Your talents are strengthening others to walk more deeply in their faith.
