Favorite Kids' Books About Jesus in the Eucharist

What a gift we have in the Eucharist. That Jesus is Truly Present- Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity- is a mind blowing, miraculous mystery! Helping kids understand the importance of the Mass and the significance of the Eucharist is no easy challenge, but fortunately we have some great tools to help! Here are some of my favorite books about the Eucharist and the Mass to share with kids.

I've divided them up in a set of categories, but didn't label them by age- I really think that most can stretch from young to old! The picture books can still be read by older kids by using them to dive deep into symbols and meaning. The more complex graphic novels and stories also have awesome pictures that can also be used with the younger kids to talk about the parts of the Mass. The guides are great for all to use while participating in the Mass. Lots of options to add to your kiddo's collection!

Art of the Blessed Sacrament Gallery Walk & Visio Divina

Visually telling the story of what we believe using paint, mosaic, and stained glass, beautiful sacred art from across the centuries is a gift to the Church. More than just decoration, these works are perfect teaching tools. With more and more art available online in the public domain, I love pulling together collections surrounding a theme I am teaching about to add another element to my students' studies and prayer.

I used these as part of a set of stations about the Eucharist that my students worked on over a few days in the classroom. I hung them around the room and students had time to walk, look, pray, and journal. I adapted the guidelines for Lectio Divina to work with Visio Divina- "Divine Seeing." I hope that the steps (which are familiar to my students) will help them slow down and really ponder this art.

I printed this set at an office supply store on 11x17 paper and then laminated them at school. Each page only cost $.60, so for less than $5 I've got a collection mini posters of classic art for my students to learn from and pray with.

Eucharistic Miracles and Bl. Carlo Acutis

***Update- All files now updated to SAINT Carlo to celebrate his canonization on 4/27/25!

Find new resources, like coloring page, an info page with short bio, and crossword puzzle here.

My students are a bit obsessed with Bl. Carlo Acutis, and understandably so! He died in 2006 at the age of 15 due to leukemia. He wore Nikes, made silly videos of his dogs, loved soccer, played video games, and taught himself computer programming. He also attended Mass daily, set prudent limits on his use of technology, and deeply wanted others to know and love Jesus. (This video is a great introduction to his life!)

Carlo was convinced that one way he could help others come to believe in Jesus was through Eucharistic Miracles. Amazing incidents that give visible evidence of the usually invisible truth of Jesus' Body and Blood Truly Present in the Eucharist, these miracles have been happening all over the world for centuries. Carlo worked to catalogue and document the miracles and created a website to share them with the world. His website has been maintained, added to, and translated following his death. What a legacy to leave behind!

I can think of no better way to teach your students about Carlo than to use his website to learn more about the Eucharist. I made a couple of research guides, both for my junior high students and for my 8th graders to use with their 3rd grade buddies. Note that the website is very, very full of information, is written at a fairly high reading level, and isn't the most kid friendly to navigate. My 6th graders were able to use it with a little help, but I think 2nd-5th graders might need a little more guidance. It is such an awesome tool that it is worth exploring!

And if you are interested in a book about Bl. Carlo, here are a few good ones!

Bl. Carlo Acutis, pray for us!
